View-Through Attribution (VTA) allows you to track and credit conversions from users who saw your app ad on NewsBreak, did not click on it immediately, but later downloaded your app or completed an in-app action within a specific timeframe.

Previously, NewsBreak Ads Manager did not support utilizing VTA data to power its optimization systems. With our latest update, app advertisers can now pass VTA conversions from their Mobile Measurement Partner (MMP) directly into the NewsBreak ad delivery algorithm. By feeding more conversion signals into our system, the algorithm can optimize your campaigns more effectively, helping you scale performance, drive more installs, and improve your overall return on ad spend (ROAS).
Why Should You Enable VTA for Your App?
Better Algorithmic Optimization: More data means smarter delivery. Giving the NewsBreak algorithm access to view-through data helps it better identify high-value mobile users who are likely to convert.
Accurate ROI Representation: Many users see an app ad, absorb the visual branding, and install the app later. VTA captures the true, full-funnel impact of your NewsBreak campaigns.
Maximizing Ad Set Performance: For video and high-impact visual placements, exposure matters just as much as clicks. VTA ensures these engagements aren't undervalued.
Setup Requirements
To successfully use VTA to optimize your app campaigns, you must complete a two-step setup process. Missing either step will prevent the algorithm from receiving your data accurately.
Step 1: Enable VTA within your Mobile Measurement Partner (MMP)
Before configuring your campaign in NewsBreak, you must ensure that your Mobile Measurement Partner (e.g., AppsFlyer, Adjust, Kochava, Singular) is actively tracking and sending view-through conversion data to NewsBreak.
Log into your Mobile Measurement Partner dashboard.
Navigate to your integrated partner settings for NewsBreak.
Locate the attribution settings and toggle View-Through Attribution (VTA) to ON.
Set your preferred view-through attribution window (e.g., 24 hours).
Step 2: Enable VTA in NewsBreak Ads Manager
Once your MMP is configured, you must explicitly activate the feature during the Ad Set creation flow in NewsBreak Ads Manager.
Begin creating a new App Install campaign and proceed to the Ad Set configuration level.
Complete your Ad Set Name and choose your specific app conversion event to track (e.g.,
iOS_app_purchaseor App Install).Scroll down to the Attribution Settings module.
Locate the View-through attribution toggle and switch it to ON (Enabled/Red).
Save your progress and complete your ad set setup.
⚠️ Important Best Practice
Ensure your attribution windows match. To prevent delivery issues or performance discrepancies, make sure the view-through window enabled in your NewsBreak Ads Manager matches the VTA configuration inside your MMP dashboard exactly. Mismatched settings can lead to poor algorithmic learning and suboptimal ad performance.
