Summary:
App retargeting campaigns are a powerful way to re-engage users who have already installed your app. By optimizing for specific in-app events, you can drive higher engagement, in-app ad impressions, and purchases.
Follow the steps below to configure your app events and successfully launch your retargeting campaign in NewsBreak Ad Manager.
Step 1: Create App Events
Before you can build your campaign, you need to define the in-app events you want to track and optimize for.
Navigate to Event Management in your NewsBreak Ad Manager dashboard.
Click to create a new app event.
Select the appropriate Event Type. (Note: Choosing the correct event type is critical for campaign performance and optimization).
Important Notes for App Events:
App Purchases: If you are tracking an
app_purchaseevent, we highly recommend passing the event value back to NewsBreak for better performance tracking.Attribution: NewsBreak supports both Mobile Measurement Partner (MMP) attribution and advertiser self-attribution.
Step 2: Create Your App Retargeting Campaign
Once your app events are properly configured, you can set up the campaign.
Enable the Retargeting Objective: Contact your NewsBreak Account Manager and ask them to enable the whitelist feature for the app retargeting campaign objective on your account. This ensures your ads are exclusively delivered to users who already have your app installed.
Select Your Optimization Goal: During campaign setup, choose the specific app event you want the campaign to optimize for.
Choose Your Bidding Strategy: NewsBreak supports several bidding types depending on your goals:
Target CPA or Maximize Conversions: Use these for standard in-app event optimization.
D1/D7 ROAS: Use this bidding type specifically when optimizing for
in_app_ad_impr(in-app ad impressions) orapp_purchaseevents.
Add Your Deep Link: At the Ad Level, enter your deep link or OneLink URL.
Best Practice: Ensure the deep link directs the user to a specific in-app page that perfectly matches the ad creative they clicked on, rather than just the app's home screen.
