Choose Your Alpha Program
We're offering two ways to participate in the alpha, depending on how much time you want to invest and how much ad credit you'd like to earn.
Program 1 — Recommended |
Program 2 |
|
|---|---|---|
| Name | Manual vs. Smart Campaign Test | Smart Campaign Only |
| What you run | A Manual Campaign and a Smart Campaign, using the same targeting, side by side | A standalone Smart Campaign |
| Max ad credit match | $2,000 ($1,000 from your Manual Campaign + $1,000 from your Smart Campaign) | $1,000 (from your Smart Campaign) |
| Why the higher match | You're asked to build and manually optimize a matched Manual Campaign as a control group, which takes more setup and ongoing effort than testing Smart Campaign alone | Fastest, lowest-effort way to try Smart Campaign |
| Best for | Advertisers who want a direct, apples-to-apples performance comparison and are willing to manage two campaigns | Advertisers who want to try Smart Campaign quickly with minimal extra setup |
💡 Not sure which to pick? Program 1 gives you (and us) the clearest read on how Smart Campaign performs against your own manual optimization — and pays out double the credit for the extra effort. Program 2 is a great fit if you'd rather keep setup simple.

Setting Up Your Smart Campaign
A Smart Campaign is built around a template rather than individual ad sets — you define the strategy once, and the AI generates and optimizes ad variations from your creative pool.
Campaign setup:
- Smart Campaigns are available for the Web Conversion, App Promotion, and Sale objectives.
- Toggle Smart Campaign on during campaign creation. This can't be changed after the campaign is created, so confirm before you save.
- Each Smart Campaign holds exactly one Ad Set Template and one Ad Template, plus the ad sets and ads the AI generates from them. Manual ad sets can't be added to a Smart Campaign.
Ad Set Template — set these at creation:
- Goal CPA: your target cost per acquisition. This is locked once set, so make sure it reflects a realistic, achievable target.
- Max Daily Budget: the daily spend ceiling for each AI-generated ad set (actual spend may come in lower depending on performance).
- Max Active Ad Sets: the most ad sets the AI can run at once (up to 10). The AI won't necessarily use the full limit — it only creates as many as it determines are needed.
Ad Template — your creative pool:
| Asset Type | Minimum | Maximum | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Media | 1 | 30 | Images or videos (can mix) |
| Titles | 1 | 10 | Text |
| Descriptions | 1 | 10 | Text |
| Call to Action | 1 | 10 | Text |
A few things to know while testing:
- Every ad set and ad the AI generates is labeled AI Created/Smart, so you always know what came from the template vs. what you built manually.
- If you manually pause an AI-Created ad set or ad, the AI will respect that and won't turn it back on.
- Editing the template only affects future AI-generated ad sets/ads — anything already live keeps running as-is.
- Turning off the whole campaign immediately pauses everything in it and stops all future generation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ad Credit Matching
Q. How will ad credits be distributed to my ad account? A. Ad credits are matched 100% of qualifying spend, issued on a rolling basis every time your spend crosses a $500 milestone — you don't have to wait until the program ends to see credit land.
Program 1 (Manual vs. Smart Campaign Test) — up to $2,000 total: Matching is tracked separately for each campaign, each capped at $1,000:
- Manual Campaign: spend $500 → $500 credit. Spend $1,000 → an additional $500 credit (total $1,000 matched for this campaign — cap reached).
- Smart Campaign: same rolling $500 milestones, also capped at $1,000.
- You reach the full $2,000 once both your Manual Campaign and your Smart Campaign have each spent $1,000.
Program 2 (Smart Campaign Only) — up to $1,000 total:
- Smart Campaign: spend $500 → $500 credit. Spend $1,000 → an additional $500 credit (total $1,000 matched — cap reached).
Q. What does "evaluated at the $500 mark" mean? A. Rather than checking your spend once at a fixed date, we check on a rolling basis — every time your qualifying spend crosses a new $500 milestone, the matching credit for that increment is issued.
Q. Can I switch programs after I start testing? Reach out to your account representative if you'd like to switch. Since Program 1's full match depends on spend across two campaigns, switching from Program 2 to Program 1 mid-test may affect your eligible match amount — your rep can walk you through the cleanest way to do it.
Q. Can ad credits be applied to other, non-Smart Campaign performance campaigns? A. Yes — once ad credit is added to your account balance, it can be used across any active campaign on your NewsBreak Ads account.
Q. Does the ad credit match apply per account or per company? A. Per company. If you manage multiple ad accounts under one company, the maximum match ($2,000 for Program 1, $1,000 for Program 2) applies across all of them combined.
Testing & Support
Q. What should I do if I encounter bugs or performance issues during testing?
A. Please reach out directly to your account representative with screenshots, your account details, and a screen recording. If you encounter a bug where you cannot create a Smart Campaign, please reach out to us at keunrak.kang@newsbreakads.com. Issues outside of Smart Campaign like tracking are not supported, please work with your account rep if you have one.
Q. I'm in Program 1 — do I need to keep both campaigns running the whole time?
A. Yes. To keep the comparison valid, your Manual Campaign and Smart Campaign should run concurrently with the same targeting for the full testing period. If you need to pause or adjust one, let your account representative know so we can account for it in your results or reach out to Keunrak.kang@newsbreak.com
Q. What happens if I manually pause an AI-Created ad set or ad?
A. The system respects manual overrides — once you turn off an AI-Created ad set or ad, the AI won't automatically turn it back on.
Q. If I set Max Active Ad Sets to 10, will Smart Campaign automatically create 10 ad sets?
A. Not necessarily. 10 is a ceiling, not a target — the AI creates only as many ad sets as it determines are needed based on performance, and may generate more over time if warranted.
Q. Your feedback helps us improve the feature before official release.
A. We'll ask for at least one round of structured feedback during the testing period — more on this below.
